Slowing the Rush: Should freshmen be restricted from going Greek?

Princeton is thinking of restricting all freshman from rushing and pledging, and postponing it until they are at least sophomores. What do you think?

diditaminuteago answered: even though i pledged as a junior, i wished i did it my freshman year. it’s a lot more time with my amazing sisters that i wished i had!
francisx3 answered: If anything, they should just do spring recruitment. I don’t think it’s fair to make them wait a WHOLE year.

sassandpearls answered: Once you’re in college, you’re to be considered an adult. Adults make their own choices. Going Greek being one of them. Let them rush.

withloveerika answered: It’s never too early. Granted, freshmen should be well informed about their options through informationals but it’s their right to rush.
justamixofme answered: No way! While I think it’s better for Formal Rush to take place in the Spring for freshman, I don’t think it’s fair to make them wait.

pinkserendipity answered: At my school, freshman rush in the Spring. I think this is a great idea because they are adjusted to college and it’s a way to meet people.

gphibsunshine answered: Allowing Freshmen to continue rushing/pledging gives them the opportunity to learn time management and stabilize a support group early on!
meganlesley answered: The school I used to attend made freshman wait until spring rush at the latestto have a semester to settle in and learn about each chapter.
catlarkin answered: I rushed as a sophmore and I am glad that I did. It gave me time to get used to college and what would be expected of me.
thebeautyinmystery said: my school also does the Spring Rush. i liked that because it allowed me to get to know the girls better and gave me the opportunity to make somewhat of a name for myself before i became a ZTA

get-your-head-straight answered: At my school first semester freshman are not allowed to go through recruitment. Once spring comes around they can and must keep a good GPA

andarie answered: Spring semester is probably a better way for freshman to get situated but I feel that students should be able to choose what they want.

floridagirlinpearls answered: no! freshman should definitely be given the opportunity to rush, after all it is a choice and experience that i think college students enjoy!

saturnsrings said: No. I think that Freshman year is a great time to go Greek. I went greek Spring of my Freshman year. It’s up to the students to keep up with their work and often a greek organization can help with that rather than hinder it.
